Tomorrow is the “date” but it was the last Thursday in March last year when we learned of Samuel’s death.It would seem that time has no meaning to those who are in the Lord’s presence. But from our vantage point, I wonder what it is like to have been a whole year in the presence of your Saviour. It must be magnificently wonderful, glorious beyond description. To be free from sin, pain and sorrow. To be amidst this chorus:Rev 5 - “Worthy is the Lamb who was slain,to receive power and wealth and wisdom and mightand honor and glory and blessing!”... “To him who sits on the throne and to the Lamb be blessing and honor and glory and might forever and ever!”Truly awesome!It is so hard to be “left behind”, to carry this sorrow and grief. I don’t want Samuel back here, I long to be with him where he is!Come Lord Jesus, Come!I wrote this prayer in preparation for our Good Friday Service last year… I’ve prayed it many times since. I will continue praying these truths over the coming days…O God, please help us.We are your people, the sheep of your pasture.You know we are weak... but flesh, and utterly helpless without Christ. For without Him, we can do nothing.You alone are good. You alone are just. You alone are righteous. You alone are sovereign. You alone make promises that can never be broken.You have promised to never leave us nor forsake us. You have promised we have a Great High Priest who can sympathise with our weakness and ever stands before the Throne of Grace on our behalf. You have promised to be our Rock and Mighty Fortress, our very present help in times of trouble.O Lord, this is a time of trouble. We are so filled with sorrow.Please comfort us by your Spirit. Comfort us with truth. The truth of Who You are and what you have done for us in Christ and all you promise to do for us yet still in Christ.Help us to fix our eyes on Christ, the Author and Finisher of our faith.
