Bildad doesn’t offer much in this very brief reply. Essentially, he replies to Job by saying – you are mistaken if you think anyone can stand before God innocent, everyone and all of creation is impure before Him.
A half-truth when presented as the whole-truth is an untruth.
Bildad sees no mercy, no grace, no covenant lovingkindness in God. The god he is describing isn’t partly true, this god is entirely false.
We must be careful that we believe rightly about God as He has revealed Himself to us in His Word. The glorious wonder of wonders is that our Great God is just, righteous, holy, etc. and merciful, gracious, good, kind, etc.
It is when we look to the cross of Christ, where “wrath and mercy meet” that we see all of the attributes of God coalescing in radiant wonder.
Applying Bildad’s theology consistently would mean no-one, including Bildad could stand before God. Of course, no-one can stand before God on their own merits – save One! Jesus Christ can, did and is on behalf of all those who are in Him.
Romans 8:1-4
Therefore, no condemnation now exists for those in Christ Jesus, because the Spirit’s law of life in Christ Jesus has set you free from the law of sin and of death. What the law could not do since it was limited by the flesh, God did. He condemned sin in the flesh by sending His own Son in flesh like ours under sin’s domain, and as a sin offering, in order that the law’s requirement would be accomplished in us who do not walk according to the flesh but according to the Spirit.
Have a listen and read of the items below and be encouraged once again by the glorious wonder of all that has been accomplished for you in Christ!
